NHSDC Spring Conference Registration is Open!
Registration is now open for the Spring NHSDC conference. The Spring NHSDC Conference will be held in Salt Lake City, UT, April 26-27, 2017. The theme for the conference is Putting It All Together: Uniting Data, Technology, and People. Here is the Preliminary Agenda.
Pre-Conference Data Quality Institute Announced!
To successfully change the homeless service system and improve projects, the community needs reliable and comprehensive information. With high quality HMIS data, CoC’s can provide accurate reports to funders; better plan services; and efficiently allocate resources. This Data Quality Institute will explain why data quality is important; describe the tools that can be used to look at a CoC’s data quality in relation to performance measurement; and provide a framework for developing a Data Quality Management Program.
The Institute will take place from 1:00pm to 5:00pm on April 25, 2017. The Institute is split into three segments: 1) Introducing the HMIS Data Quality Framework; 2) Reducing Data Quality Impacts on System Performance Measures; and 3) Building a Data Quality Management Program. Attendees are encouraged to bring their Data Quality Plans, System Performance Measures, and local Data Quality reports. Register soon as seats are limited.
Please watch for details on a potential Pre-Conference Tour on the 25th. The conference will end at 4:30 on the 27th. Please take these into consideration when making your travel plans.
As in past years, the NHSDC conference is a HUD-approved conference. Therefore, HMIS funds awarded under the Continuum of Care (CoC) and Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) Programs may be used to attend the 2017 NHSDC Spring Conference. Projects without funds designated for HMIS cannot use funds from other budget line items (e.g., project admin funds) to attend this event.

NHSDC Fall Conference and Youth Privacy Summit
NHSDC held two events in New Orleans, LA; its Fall Conference on October 13-14, 2016 and a Youth Data Privacy Summit on October 12, 2016. The final Conference Brochure and Agenda can be found here.
The conference highlighted the good work that communities are doing to leverage data and deploy different strategies to tackle challenging social service issues. The Youth Privacy Summit was a joint collaboration between NHSDC and National Network for Youth. A broad range of stakeholders gathered to discuss key challenges and next steps to address youth’s consent to share information collected and ensuring both youth and service providers fully understand what consent in this context means.
